Why Not Use a Spreadsheet?
The graph above illustrates the number of different combinations when locating 5 warehouses.

Network design and planning is a complex task involving large data sets. Spreadsheets are easy to use and widely understood, but network design and planning requires the consideration of more combinations than a spreadsheet can effectively handle. For example, in a simple site-selection problem requiring the identification of 5 optimal warehouse locations from a set of 25 potential sites, 50,000 different combinations must be considered. This is far too many to analyze with a spreadsheet. As the chart at right demonstrates, the number of combinations grows exponentially as potential sites are added to the analysis.

To further complicate matters, a thorough network analysis should consider the optimal assignment of customers to distribution centers, capacity at the manufacturing sites, warehouse sizes and complex transportation cost structures. It is also helpful to have the ability to analyze different scenarios. By using spreadsheets, too much time will be spent crunching data and too many potential solutions will remain unexamined.

LogicNet Plus XE considers all of the possibilities and performs the challenging computations, allowing you to spend your time analyzing scenarios and deciding on the best network design and planning for your company. LogicNet Plus combines this extraordinary problem solving ability with an easy to use interface.
