Fourth Annual LogicTools Symposium and User Group Hosts Record Number of Attendees and First Annual User Award Recipient
|
Chicago - (BUSINESS WIRE) - November 4th, 2004 - LogicTools' fourth annual symposium and user group on Oct 21st and 22nd in Chicago hosted a record number of attendees. Over 50 companies participated including DSC Logistics, CH Robinson, Kraft Foods, Ryder, Timken, Walgreens and many others. According to one attendee:
"The symposium was wonderful and very informative as it had a great balance of practical experiences, new thoughts/ideas, and cutting edge technology", said Kenneth R. Wavering, Senior Program Manager at SAIC.
The presentations included many different aspects of the supply chain industry. Starting with Bob Ferrari from SAP, a software partner of LogicTools, discussing how the company views demand driven networks. Mike Romeri from PRTM, who is working together with LogicTools at a large hi tech client, shared PRTM's understanding of supply chain redesign including how optimization fits within this framework. LogicTools' CEO and MIT professor, David Simchi-Levi focused on combining technology, such as RFID, and business processes to improve supply chain efficiencies. Finally, David Newberry from HP presented the benefits of real-time visibility into supply chain enterprise.
In addition, several case studies that combine LogicTools solutions and effective business processes were presented including: The re-design of an optical technology supply chain using Inventory Analyst, replenishment modeling using LogicChain as a complement to SAP APO, Retail supply network redesign with LogicNet Plus and a large US food company's re-design of its European network using LogicNet Plus.
During the User Group meeting, LogicTools initiated an annual award for best application of LogicTools solutions. The winning application was selected by a panel of experts that included people from industry and academia. The winning company, who within 30 days of training in LogicNet Plus, made significant business decisions, considers the application so critical to its business that LogicTools cannot announce its name. The winner used LogicNet Plus to develop five year capacity and sourcing plans and has integrated it within its planning functions to continually evaluate its network to plan for growth.
