LogicTools Introduces Innovative Inventory Planning Solution
New release accompanied by strong client endorsement
October 28, 2002

Chicago, October 28, 2002... LogicTools, Inc., the leading solution provider in supply chain planning introduced a unique ‘multi-stage' inventory optimization solution that helps companies improve profitability by positioning inventories strategically across the supply chain. Inventory Analyst™ is a web based product that addresses the challenges of improving bottom-line profits while reducing inventory costs and improving service levels to meet customer demand. This product is based on recent research in academia and is superior to current inventory planning solutions. Unlike most existing inventory management systems, Inventory Analyst allows for multi-location “global” optimization rather than the traditional single-location “local” optimization solutions used for inventory planning.

LogicTools' Inventory Analyst has already received strong endorsements from many Fortune 500 companies including Sanmina-SCI, a current user. Sanmina-SCI, a leading electronic manufacturing services company successfully used Inventory Analyst to evaluate a variety of strategic inventory decisions. According to Michael Hegedus, Director of Supply Chain Architecture at Sanmina, "Sanmina leveraged LogicTools' Inventory Analyst to analyze strategic issues in its supply chain with particular emphasis on inventory liability issues. We have identified significant inventory savings opportunities by aligning our supply chain around customer requirements and supplier capabilities. LogicTools provided outstanding support throughout the entire project." Some other customers who are currently implementing Inventory Analyst include General Motors' Research and Development and DSC Logistics.

Inventory Analyst utilizes state-of-the-art mathematical techniques to optimize the allocation of safety stock and committed service time based upon a company's supply chain configuration and service level requirements. With Inventory Analyst you can:
  • Improve service levels by positioning the inventory strategically across the supply chain
  • Effectively deal with uncertainty in demand and transportation lead times
  • Reduce excess inventories and the risk of obsolescence
  • Analyze postponement and risk pooling strategies
  • Evaluate different sourcing strategies
  • Determine the financial implications of servicing customers based on actual cost of goods sold
