Symposium, sponsored by SAP, LogicTools and others, addresses cutting edge topics in supply chain management
Attendees benefit from thought leadership in areas of RFID, Demand Driven Networks, Next Generation Supply Chain, Real-time Visibility and more.

Chicago - September 23rd, 2004 - LogicTools brings together thought leaders from academia, industry, technology, and consulting for its symposium, Processes & Technology for Supply Chain Advantage on October 21 in Chicago. The symposium provides an opportunity to learn and discuss best practices and cutting edge techniques in supply chain management. Call 888-265-4706 or visit www.supplychainexpert.com to register.
Highlights include:
Jim Olivero from Hewlett-Packard Corporate IT, NonStop Enterprise Division will talk about the benefits of real-time visibility into supply chain enterprise. Leading edge companies are installing visibility systems but few have had the opportunity to study the impact.
Robert Ferrari, Director of SCM Business Development for SAP, the world's leading provider of business software solutions, will discuss how the company views Demand Driven Supply Networks. This is a concept developed by AMR Research and defined as “A system of technologies and processes that senses and reacts to real-time demand across a network of customers, suppliers, and employees”. AMR Research is challenging technology vendors to address this concept in their plans.
David Simchi-Levi, Professor of Systems Engineering at MIT and CEO of LogicTools will discuss the impact of RFID on supply chain efficiency. RFID technology, developed at the MIT AUTO-ID center is still at the earliest stages of implementation and its full impact on the supply chain is unknown. Companies that take advantage of this technology to go beyond replacing bar codes and conforming to industry mandates have the opportunity to edge ahead of their competition.
Michael Romeri, Director, PRTM Technologies Group, the leading consulting company which originally developed the widely used Supply-Chain Operations Reference-model® (SCOR®) in collaboration with Advanced Manufacturing Research and the Supply-Chain Council. He will discuss recent efforts to deploy network optimization solutions at a large US manufacturing company as an important part of a next generation supply chain. The presentation will focus on how to plan and deploy network and inventory modeling solutions within the context of an overall implementation and how to overcome practical and behavioral change management obstacles.
