St Gobain Achieves Results Working with LogicTools in Supply Chain Design
LogicNet Plus Project to Facilitate On-going Use and Implementation of Results

Chicago - August 9th, 2006: LogicTools, Inc. (www.logic-tools.com), the leader in inventory and supply chain optimization solutions and Saint Gobain Containers, an SBU of the global market leader in design, production and distribution of functional materials for the construction, industrial and consumer markets announced the successful preparation of a joint supply chain design initiative.
The goal of the initiative was to provide implementable results while transferring knowledge for on-going use of the solution and methodologies at St Gobain. The project allowed St Gobain to determine the optimal number and location of distribution points in the network and perform sensitivity analysis of optimization scenarios through changing costs for key drivers such as inventory levels, warehousing and transportation. Ultimately, improved efficiency, cost and customer service will result from the implementation of this initiative.
Peter J. Walters, VP Purchasing and Distribution of Saint- Gobain Containers noted that "an important part of achieving long lasting results goes beyond the technical skills of the modeling team. You need to make sure to communicate the plan to key personnel as well as to receive buy-in from senior executives and the line staff responsible for implementing the plan. The ability to implement the results requires careful planning and identification of facility and logistics as well as capital and expense requirements. Finally, it is important to monitor, identify, correct, and audit the results."
