Revolution in Supply Chain Network Design Software
LogicNet Plus completes LogicTools' strategic planning solutions
August 2, 2001

Chicago, August 2, 2001... LogicTools announces the release of LogicNet Plus®, a significant enhancement to LogicTools' product line of strategic and tactical supply chain planning tools. LogicNet Plus, as its name indicates, has all the characteristics of LogicNet® with additional features that make it the most powerful network design tool available on the market today. These features include: unlimited number of tiers allowing users to model any complex supply chains where suppliers ship to plants to ports to warehouses etc., open/close decisions for plants and production lines, extended international support and an extremely sophisticated solver able to exploit specific characteristics of network design problems to enhance performance.

According to Edith Simchi-Levi, VP Operations of LogicTools, "LogicNet Plus fills an important gap in our ability to provide tools for analysis of complex supply chain planning problems. LogicTools' solutions have revolutionized the market by replacing extremely complex, expensive and customized software implementations on the one hand and limited spreadsheet analysis on the other. Providing the capability to optimize the supply chain results not only in significant savings, 5%-10% are typical, but also a clarity of vision and better understanding of the various trade-offs."

LogicNet Plus offers advanced decision support capability while retaining the flexibility and ease-of-use of LogicNet, characteristics that have made it the most widely used strategic network design tool in the industry. Indeed, "LogicNet software is far easier to use and generates solutions much faster than the other strategic planning software tools we have used. By being able to focus on the business issues at hand, and not the challenges of using the software, we were able to develop additional insights into factors affecting cost and service trade-offs. As a result we have been able to consider many alternative strategies and identify multi-million dollar savings for our clients", observes Craig Delano a principal at Mercer Management Group.

Companies that have recently purchased LogicTools products and services include Arch Chemicals, C.H. Robinson, Fluor Daniel, Gordon Food Service, Kraft Foods, PriceWaterhouseCoopers and Weyerhaeuser.
