New Software Solves Tactical Planning problems in Supply Chain Management
An innovative tool for planning and collaboration |
June 9, 2000 |
(Northbrook, Illinois) -- LogicTools, Inc., a leading developer of supply chain planning software announced today the release of LogicChain®, an innovative tactical planning tool to help businesses reduce system wide costs. LogicChain offers logistics professionals a powerful, affordable tool that meets service-level requirements by optimizing the flow of raw material and products throughout the supply chain, matching supply and demand over time. It is designed to resolve time-dependent production and distribution decisions, such as seasonal demand, trend, or high volatility in demand forecasting.
"LogicChain gives our customers the unprecedented ability to identify inventory bottlenecks in the supply chain and share that information with warehouse and distribution managers via the Internet. " said LogicTools' VP of Business Development, Dr. Michael Watson, "Collaboration is an important component of supply chain planning as companies enter into the global marketplace. LogicChain combines incredible performance with ease of use, extracting much of the mystery and expense people have come to expect of tactical planning."
LogicChain also assists with the challenges of allocating production, transportation, and inventory resources to satisfy demand. The software allows planners to share the results and collaborate with business partners over the Internet, promoting rapid knowledge transfer and increased supply chain efficiency. LogicChain incorporates a proprietary solver to optimize production, distribution, and inventory decisions minimizing system-wide costs over the entire planning horizon and satisfying service level requirements. The solver also provides supply chain planners with the ability to identify the need for additional resources such as over-time production or additional warehouse space.
