United States Postal Service selects LogicTools for Network Design
One of the largest distribution networks in the world is optimized with LogicNet PlusTM |
May 1, 2002 |
Chicago, May 1st, 2002... LogicTools was selected by the United States Postal Service (USPS)
as the vendor for software and modeling support for the Network Integration and Alignment Project. This project is a major focus of the USPS as it attempts to streamline and become more efficient. Postmaster General John E. Potter, speaking to more than 2,500 delegates attending the National Postal Forum April 22, 2002 stated that “Plans also call for the Postal Service to evaluate its network of postal retail facilities and mail processing plants to strengthen the network, strengthen service performance, and reduce costs.”
LogicTools was selected after the USPS and its main contractor for the project, consulting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers, went through a detailed selection process of many network design software vendors. “The need to analyze one of the most complex distribution networks in the world requires not only the best software tools but also an understanding of modeling that LogicTools is able to provide” says Pranab Shah, Manager, Network Operations Development at the USPS.
The USPS selected LogicNet PlusTM, LogicTools' advanced network design solution, as the platform for USPS network design studies during this project and beyond. LogicNet Plus provides “state of the art” algorithms and ease of use that enable quick turn around of modeling projects and high return on investment. In addition, LogicTools' modeling methodology and supply chain experience provides the support companies need in order to succeed.
