Little Known Software Company Creating a Unique Niche in the Supply Chain Management Industry
LogicNet's® affordability and ease attracting more & more of world's distributors
January 12, 2000

(Northbrook, IL) - Every industry has its "Davids" and its "Goliaths". When it comes to supply chain management software and training, one of the smallest and newest "Davids" has been turning the heads of a growing number of companies involved in warehousing and distribution. LogicTools, Inc., a Chicago-area supply chain management software company, has posted a 124% increase over 1998 software sales, one of the largest increases in the industry. Some of LogicTools' newest clients include MegaSys, Next Generation Logistics, Operations Associates, Peapod and Walgreens. "LogicNet® is an impressive network design package," says C. H. Joe Ponder, Vice-President of Sun Diamond Growers of California. "LogicNet's affordability and ease of use allowed us to conduct our own network design study and retain the knowledge and savings."

"Our optimization algorithms set us apart," says Edith Simchi-Levi, LogicTools Vice-President of Operations. "Our products and services have opened up the market to small companies who could not otherwise afford traditional network design software. LogicNet's ease of use is attractive for third party logistics providers who need to provide their management and customers with rapid prototyping services." Some of LogicTools' larger clients include Airborne Express, S.C. Johnson, Schneider Logistics, UPS Professional Services and many more.

Founded in 1995, LogicTools specializes in decision support software that utilizes optimization technology to address logistics and supply chain problems. Their flagship software product, LogicNet 3.1 facilitates strategic decisions for inbound and outbound distribution networks, minimizes total system costs by determining the optimal number of warehouses, their locations and capacities, the allocation of products to the different warehouses, and the flow of material through the supply chain. Typical savings from network design projects range from 5-15% of current supply chain costs.

LogicNet runs under Windows 95/98 and Windows NT on desktop PCs . The software is based on the Microsoft® Access environment and allows easy import, export and editing functionality with Microsoft Excel. Advanced tools from MapInfo provide enhanced GIS capabilities. Extensive U.S. and international geographic data is included with the package and specialized data can be easily added. LogicNet also includes the option to interface to the SMC CZAR rater and UPS® small package rates.
